Focused on expansion and at the same time committed to our roots – this has remained the same since the company’s founding 1887. The company was founded as a small cheese dairy by Josef Anton Meggle I in Wasserburg am Inn near Munich over 135 years ago. It is now one of the most renowned manufacturers of dairy products in Europe.
The MEGGLE Group produces butter and butter specialties, fresh dairy products along the entire white dairy line, filled baked goods for wholesale and end consumers as well as high-quality hard and semi-hard cheese. Furthermore, dry milk products are manufactured as specialty products for the pharmaceutical and food processing industries and sold worldwide. In addition, MEGGLE makes complex and sophisticated spray-drying products for customers from a wide range of industries using state-of-the-art production facilities.

The MEGGLE Group, which is based in Germany, is represented in 19 countries with 23 operating companies and one representative office. The MEGGLE Holding SE as the umbrella company is based in Wasserburg am Inn in Upper Bavaria.
The group currently employs roughly 3,200 people. Around 2,200 employees work at the five German locations, more than two-thirds of them at the headquarters in Wasserburg am Inn. The majority of the remaining 1,000 employees are spread across the production sites in Slovakia, Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. A small proportion is distributed among the sales locations worldwide. In the 2024 fiscal year, the MEGGLE Group generated sales of approximately 1.4 billion EUR.

MEGGLE in Germany
MEGGLE’s main factory is located in Wasserburg am Inn in Upper Bavaria. This is where the products of our two Business Divisions Consumer Products and Ingredients (Excipients, Food and Feed Ingredients) are made and sold. In addition to the location in Wasserburg am Inn, our consumer products are also produced and sold in Altusried (Bavaria) and Gebesee (Thuringia).
Since 2026, the long-established Rücker dairy, with plants in Aurich (Lower Saxony) and Wismar (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), has also been part of the MEGGLE Group. Here, North German cheese specialities as well as high-quality butter and dairy products are produced and distributed.

MEGGLE has a broad presence in Europe. Our consumer products – including butter, spreads, cheese, baguettes and vegan alternatives – are sold in Central, Southern and Eastern Europe through a total of 11 subsidiaries. These countries include Hungary (Budapest), Czechia (Prague), Romania (Bucharest), Bulgaria (Sofia), Croatia (Zagreb), Italy (Milan), Slovakia (Bratislava), Serbia (Kragujevac) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (Bihać).
Our products are also manufactured locally in Bihać, Kragujevac and Bratislava. This enables us to take regional preferences and quality standards into account in the best possible way and ensure a reliable supply.

Outside Europe, the MEGGLE Group is represented by seven sales companies – in Brazil, India, Japan, Singapore, Turkey, the USA and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – as well as a representative office in China. The focus here is on the sale of our ingredients products for the food, pharmaceutical and animal feed industries.
In addition, we work with a global network of distribution partners, making our products available in over 100 countries. In this way, we combine international expertise with local market knowledge and ensure that customers worldwide benefit from the renowned MEGGLE quality.
