The MEGGLE Group mourns the loss of Toni Meggle

The long-time owner and entrepreneur Toni Meggle passes away at the age of 94

The employees of the MEGGLE Group mourn the loss of their long-time owner, Toni Meggle, who passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 94. With his passing, the MEGGLE Group has not only lost an outstanding entrepreneurial figure but also a remarkable individual who shaped the company with passion and foresight over decades.
After completing his secondary education, earning his master’s certificate, and studying management in Brussels, Toni Meggle joined the company in 1960 as a  partner and managing director. He led the family business in Wasserburg into its third generation and managed it independently for many decades. His spirit of innovation and deep sense of responsibility for employees formed the foundation of his success. He introduced a cooperative leadership style and transformed the dairy from a regional operation into an internationally successful corporate group, with locations in Japan, Shanghai, Singapore, India, Dubai, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Brazil, and the USA. The first of these international branches was established in Japan as early as 1977. With his inspiring personality and reliability, he had a unique ability to win people over. Over the years, close friendships developed on every continent – both professionally and personally. Wherever he went, he was met with respect, trust, and genuine appreciation.

Furthermore, Toni Meggle significantly shaped the German and European dairy and food industries over many years in leading positions. As president of ASSILEC, the association of national dairy industry organizations in the European Union, he represented the industry’s interests at the highest European level, contributing significantly to the harmonization and advancement of dairy policies in Europe. In the European Dairy Association (EDA), he served as a board member and later as vice president, becoming a key voice for Europe’s dairy processors. Nationally, Toni Meggle led the German Dairy Industry Association (MIV) for many years, serving as its chairman and later as honorary chairman. He also held leadership roles in his Bavarian homeland, including as chairman of the Working Group of the Bavarian Food Industry (ABEW), as a member of the presidium of the Bavarian Industry Association (LBI), and later as a board member of the Bavarian Industry Association (VBW). For his outstanding contributions, he was named Honorary Senator by the VBW.

Toni Meggle’s commitment to the people within his company and the region will also remain unforgettable. This is exemplified by his decision in 2019 to integrate the MEGGLE Group into the Toni Meggle Foundation, whose mission is to ensure the company’s long-term stability as an enterprise and safeguard jobs.
In addition to his entrepreneurial achievements, Toni Meggle, together with his wife Marina, dedicated himself over many years to social, cultural, and regional projects – always driven by the conviction that economic success and social responsibility are inseparably linked.

For his extraordinary entrepreneurial and social contributions, Toni Meggle received numerous awards. Among them, he was a recipient of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany First Class, the Bavarian Order of Merit, and was named an honorary citizen of the city of Wasserburg.

The thoughts and condolences of the employees of the MEGGLE Group go especially to his wife, Marina Meggle, who supported him throughout his entrepreneurial activities for many years. Together with him, she played a key role in the development of the company as a member of the Board of the Toni Meggle Foundation and the Administrative Board of MEGGLE Holding SE. She will continue to honor Toni Meggle’s legacy and carry forward his entrepreneurial vision and sense of responsibility.
